If there are issues regarding the BDM Colt/DPMS mags I haven’t read it. Honestly there aren’t enough Colt/DPMS BDM mags in circulation compared to the more prevalent Sig/KelTec or BDM labeled polymer mags to generate any threads on gun forums. In essence I would say the Colt/DPMS mag sold by BDM have all the features of the polymer magazines but very robust. BDM did offer a metal 30 round mag for the Atchisson/Ciener/CMMG but they were a lot more expensive and probably with fewer sold on the market. To me there have been at least four versions of BDM polymer magazines for the Atchison/Ciener/CMMG pattern bolt. The Colt/DPMS is a different design than the polymer X series of magazines or current Sonic Weld. The BDM are a quality magazine with a assist tab to ease loading. Granted the barrel probably sustained 50,000 rounds but it would’ve kept going had I had bolt hold open followers (BHO). I ruined the end of a DPMS Gen 1 barrel from emptying a ten round mag and dropping the hammer on an empty chamber. Dry firing a 22 rimfire ruins the end of the barrel or chamber insert and destroys firing pins. ![]() Upon firing the last round the follower rises to keep the bolt from closing on an empty chamber, which is a good thing. The Colt/DPMS mag by BDM is a metal body which holds 32 rounds although I usually load just 30.
